Terms and Conditions
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of StatEVN, including the website at statevn.com and the statistical modelling service available through it (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by StatEVN, based in Yerevan, Armenia ("StatEVN", "we", "us").
By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you use it on behalf of a company or another organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these Terms for it. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. The Service
StatEVN lets you upload a dataset, describe a goal, and receive statistical results (for example regression, classification, clustering, forecasts and simulations) together with plain-language explanations.
The Service is under active development and may be offered as a beta. Features, models, limits and the way results are presented can change, and some features may be removed.
3. Accounts and eligibility
- You must be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live), or use the Service under the supervision of a parent, guardian, teacher or organisation that accepts these Terms on your behalf.
- Where an account is required, you must give accurate information and keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Tell us promptly through the feedback form if you think your account has been used without your permission.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to process data you have no right to use;
- try to disrupt, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems;
- copy, resell, reverse engineer or extract the models, code or underlying technology of the Service, except where the law allows it;
- use automated means to access the Service at a rate or volume beyond normal use, or work around the limits we set;
- upload malicious files or content intended to harm the Service or other people.
We may apply limits, such as maximum file size, number of rows and the time an analysis may run, to keep the Service reliable for everyone.
5. Your data
You own your data. These Terms do not give us any ownership of the files you upload or of the results produced from them.
What we do with it. You give us permission to process your files only as needed to provide the Service to you: reading the file, cleaning it, fitting models and returning results. We do not use your files to build a dataset of our own, and we do not sell your data. Files are processed in memory to produce your results and are not kept as stored files on our side. Short-lived technical copies may be held briefly (for example so that a follow-up step on the same file works without uploading it again) and are removed automatically.
What you confirm. You confirm that you have the right to upload and analyse the data, including any rights and permissions needed under data-protection law if it contains personal information.
Sensitive data. Please do not upload data you are not allowed to share, or sensitive categories of personal data, such as government ID numbers, payment card details, or health records, unless you have the legal basis and have removed or anonymised what you do not need.
How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Results are not advice
StatEVN applies statistical methods to the data you provide. The quality of a result depends on the quality, completeness and suitability of that data, and on whether the question fits the method.
- Results are estimates, not guarantees or predictions of what will happen. Forecasts in particular can be wrong, and their intervals describe uncertainty, not certainty.
- Our warnings (for example that results "may not be usable") are indicators based on automatic checks. A missing warning does not mean a result is correct, and a warning does not always mean it is wrong.
- Plain-language explanations are generated to help you understand the output and may simplify it.
- Results are for information only and are not legal, financial, medical, investment or other professional advice. You are responsible for decisions you make using them, and for checking important results, with a qualified professional where appropriate.
7. Plans, billing and refunds
The Service may include a free plan and paid plans. The available plans, prices, limits, billing periods and what each plan includes are shown on our pricing page at the time you subscribe.
- Paid plans renew automatically for the same period until you cancel, unless stated otherwise at purchase.
- You can cancel at any time; the plan then stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Prices are shown with applicable taxes where required. We may change prices with reasonable advance notice; a change applies from your next renewal.
- Student plan: the free Student plan is for current students and academics and requires verification, for example through a university email address. It is for your own study or research, and we may ask you to re-verify periodically. We may move an account to the Regular free plan if it is no longer eligible or if verification was not genuine.
- Plan limits (such as analyses per month, rows per file, and which models and features are available) apply as shown on the pricing page. Some models or features may be unavailable on a plan, and we may suggest upgrading when your data would benefit from one.
- Refunds: [refund policy to be set together with pricing, for example: fees already paid are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise]
Payments may be processed by a third-party payment provider, whose own terms apply to the payment.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, models, design, text, name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service according to these Terms.
You may use the results produced from your data for any lawful purpose, including in your own reports and presentations. If you give us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Service without obligation to you.
9. Availability and changes to the Service
We work to keep the Service available, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. It may be unavailable for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service, and will try to give notice of significant changes where reasonably possible.
10. No warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that you have by law as a consumer and that cannot be excluded.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or business opportunity, arising from your use of the Service or reliance on its results;
- our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or [a small fixed amount, e.g. 100 USD] if you use a free plan.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for fraud or intentional misconduct.
12. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service at any time, and cancel any paid plan as described above. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if your use risks harm to the Service or other people. Sections that by their nature should continue (for example those on intellectual property, disclaimers, liability and governing law) continue after termination.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a significant change, we will say so on the website or by email where we have your address. The date at the top shows when the Terms were last updated. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [the Republic of Armenia]. Disputes will be handled by the competent courts of [Yerevan, Armenia], without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you may have in the country where you live. We encourage you to contact us first through the feedback form, because most issues can be resolved directly.
